WATER Now for Sale! Not Re-bottled!

Water
Oh, look how the dude in my icon is pining!

He is so sad, floating in that water with that red right hand! He is waiting!

What is he waiting for?

He is waiting for YOU to buy the book he is suffering tetanus on!

That's right, it's midnight(ish) on April 21, which means The Valde: Water is for sale today!

For a mere $4.99 you too may know the great mysteries of the deep blue ocean. Okay, that's a lie. For a mere $4.99 you too may read my latest urban fantasy romance! (much more like it).

An excerpt is now available on Loose Id's website. And if you read the book, come back here and tell me what you think. Drowning boy and I want to know!

All the best,

Astrid.

Wow, he does look sad. And his poor hand! Do you think he's the one Nick Cave wrote that song about?

"A shadow is cast wherever he stands,
Stacks of green paper in his red right hand."

I always visualize an evil Hell Boy when I hear that song. My lil' Tetanus buddy here seems too lackadaisical to consider others as "microscopic cogs in his catastrophic plan."

Can you answer the one big question I had that messed me up for the rest of the book?

Charlie shrugged. “I don’t know. There wasn’t life on the planet when we had our first great battle. The other battles we’ve had over the years have only been between Fire and Water, and we have been restricted by our human bodies.”

If there weren't humans around when there was that big battle, and all the other battles have only been between Fire and Water, how the heck did they get trapped in the human bodies? Did I read too fast and miss something somewhere?

No, you didn't read too fast... I just skimmed over that part because I didn't want to go into too much detail about the original battle. But it lasted for a *very* long time - eons - and by the time the Air and Earth forces united the first humans were on the planet and their consciousnesses were developed enough that they could serve as vessels for imprisoned elemental souls. It took a long time for these forces to reorganize, and so it was much later that they began to reform as armies and fight each other once again.

Hope that helps clarify. I try to skim over the image of Neanderthal Arath Jag in my mind because it doesn't do much for his sex appeal. :)

New fan!
Hi, Astrid. Just wanted to let you know I just finished The Archer's Heart and *loved* it. This is the first of your work I have read, and now, discovering your blog and website, I see you have several other novels out there too. You've just made me a very happy camper, indeed. I had seen your The Archer's Heart come up several times for me as a recommended read since I'm a big fan of Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner series and Sarah Monette's Melusine books. I thought I'd give yours a try since I enjoy fantasy, especially well written fantasy featuring M/M characters. You didn't disappoint. TAH was a delight from start to finish. Keep up the terrific work!

Now, I'm going to mosey over to LooseId and do some downloading. . .

Re: New fan!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate hearing from readers, and I'm glad you enjoyed The Archer's Heart. My titles through Loose Id are shorter, and a little more racy, but I hope you like them as well. Come back and tell me what you think.

Thanks again, and Happy Reading!

Is there going to be more????

Yes!! It's designed as a four-book series, and so hopefully, if there's enough interest, the story will continue. This is the short intro to a much bigger world, and a bigger battle. Yikes. You'd think I'd be sick of writing big battles by now. :)
